Facing The Front

Welcome back lovely people. Before we get on with our activities, spend 10 minutes having a little look at these different magazine front-pages.

Being experienced Media Students now, I'm sure you will be automatically working out what the audience of each magazine is and how they are appealing to that audience.

What things do these magazine front pages have in common do you think?

Task 1:

Title - Radial Analysis of a Magazine Front Page

Pick one of these front pages, paste it into a MS Word document and complete a radial analysis in which you label and describe the effect of all of the different techniques used by the magazine designer to appeal to their audience.

(some things you may wish to label: 'magazine title', 'price', 'sex-appeal', 'use of colour', 'statistics', 'talking directly to the reader', 'image', 'font', 'main headline', 'provocative words')

Task 2:

Either do this on the computer or make a rough sketch on a piece of paper.

Design your own magazine for one of the following genres:

Men's Health
Fashion
Music
Women's Interests Magazine
Men's Interests Magazine
Gardening
Travelling
