As Media Students, it is part of our job to spot patterns. You do this all the time. When you are watching a film and worked out how it is going to end, it is because you are good at spotting patterns... You have seen it all before in other films.
The same rules apply for advertising... There are patterns to be spotted everywhere. Today, we are going to be looking at the patterns to be spotted with in the 'Horror Movie Poster Genre'.

Activity 1:
Have a look at the 5 posters in today's post. What do they all have in common? Based on these posters (and any others that you know of) I want you to make a list of 5 'Golden Rules' which all horror movie posters have to follow. Think about colours, denotation, writing, film-title, slogan, and anything else you might have noticed about these posters.
Activity 2:
Using these '5 Golden Rules', design your own horror movie poster.
